Utah's Choice Shrubs and Succulents

Shrubs, along with trees, form the backbone of the garden. They add substance to a landscape and become permanent fixtures in your garden's design. Like trees, shrubs are either deciduous or evergreen. Size at maturity is an important consideration. Shrubs grow in various shapes and can be used in mass or as a focal point. Some, like Littleleaf Mockorange, have a wonderful fragrance.
Utah's Choice native shrubs are adapted to our climate, offer a four-season interest, provide food and shelter for wildlife, and are an extremely important component of the landscape. The thirteen shrubs and succulents listed below are arranged roughly in order of their preferred habitats from low desert to montane.
